Alta Ares

Alta Ares is a French defence technology company building AI-powered air defence systems that combine real-time detection, tracking and terminal guidance software with interceptor hardware.

Alta Ares is a French defense technology company, founded in 2024 and headquartered in Paris, that develops AI-powered next-generation air defence systems. Its work sits at the meeting point of software and hardware: real-time detection, tracking and terminal guidance on one side, advanced physical effectors on the other, unified within a single platform architecture. The company was established by a founding team, led by CEO Hadrien Canter, that identified capability gaps in air defence architecture, and it builds for contested environments in which conventional navigation aids are absent.

Its portfolio spans both guidance and effectors. Pixel Lock, the AI guidance system, delivers real-time detection, tracking and terminal guidance for interceptors and has reportedly doubled interception success rates in operational deployments. Black Bird, a turbojet-powered interceptor, and X-Lock, a multirotor effector, are both described as combat-proven and engineered to operate in GNSS-denied environments. An ISTAR suite and mission-management software complete the unified platform. Technical domains run from computer vision and machine learning to autonomous systems, turbojet propulsion and GNSS-denied navigation.

The company's systems are deployed across multiple operational theatres, with product development shaped by direct observation of the battlefield in Ukraine. Alta Ares is a recipient of a NATO innovation award and counts Airbus, MBDA and General Cherry among its strategic partners. It maintains offices across Europe, the Middle East and the United States, serving armed forces, defence institutions and aerospace and defence contractors, with a stated emphasis on sovereign European defence technology, speed of development and the rapid fielding of capabilities.
