Archangel Autonomy

Archangel Autonomy builds and deploys edge AI, computer vision and autonomous navigation systems for human-machine teaming with law enforcement, first responders, NGOs, wildlife rangers and the military.

Archangel Autonomy builds and deploys edge AI systems for people operating at the front line of risk: law enforcement, first responders, NGOs, wildlife rangers and the military. Its engineering problems are unusually demanding. Computer vision, autonomous navigation and situation awareness must perform in the field, at the edge, where connectivity is scarce, conditions change and the cost of failure is measured in human safety. The company's stated orientation is human-machine teaming rather than full autonomy - machines that extend the reach of people rather than replace them - and human-centred workflow design underpins how its systems are built.

Three products define the technical work. Argonaut AI cameras identify intruders or threats, reducing the number of people required on patrol while minimising electromagnetic signatures. Xnaut delivers highly accurate navigation over extended ranges without reference to vulnerable external infrastructure, and additionally detects changing situations and selects appropriate responses. Cerebella, the mission management platform, integrates best-in-class machines from an ever-increasing catalogue of partners into human-centred workflows - a systems integration and orchestration problem at meaningful scale.

The technical domains span edge AI, computer vision, autonomous navigation, human-machine teaming, situation awareness and adaptive response, and mission management and systems integration. For engineers, the appeal is the combination of hard applied research and deployed consequence: perception and navigation systems that must be right the first time, integrated across a growing fleet of partner machines, and used by the people society places furthest from help.
