BMC

BMC is an enterprise software company building automation, workflow orchestration and mainframe intelligence for large global enterprises.

BMC, founded in 1980 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, is an American multinational enterprise software company that has spent more than 45 years building the operating foundations on which large organisations depend. Its stated mission is to help customers become Autonomous Digital Enterprises, with an emphasis on agility, customer-centricity and data-driven, actionable insights. The company positions its work as infrastructure for enterprises "that can't afford to get it wrong".

For engineers, the technical scope is considerable. Two flagship products anchor the portfolio: Control-M, for workflow orchestration, and BMC AMI, for mainframe intelligence. Surrounding these are active domains in mainframe transformation, AIOps, enterprise-scale AI and IT automation. The engineering philosophy is to build solutions that are open, scalable and modular - a design constraint that rewards precise, systems-minded work rather than bespoke shortcuts.

The scale at which that work operates is exceptional. Approximately 80% of the Forbes Global 100 are customers, including all 18 of the world's largest banks, all nine global insurers and two-thirds of the top global manufacturers. Annual revenue exceeds $2.3 billion, and the company works with more than 650 partners, serving organisations from mid-sized enterprises to the Fortune 500. Its verticals centre on banking and financial services, insurance, manufacturing and enterprise IT.

Professionals joining BMC engage with systems of record in industries where reliability and consequence are paramount, and where transformation work - of mainframes, of workflows, of operations - is a live, multi-decade engineering challenge rather than a solved problem.
