The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a cleared Senior Systems Engineer in support of Development Operations (DevOps) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is in Reston, VA, where Technology and Teamwork come together. Responsibilities:

  • You will analyze user requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications, and analyze system requirements. Provide guidance to users in formulating requirements, advise alternative approaches, and conduct feasibility studies.

  • Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology and incorporate new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.

  • Guide the system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans and interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. 

  • Evaluate and monitor system performance throughout the software lifecycle.  Perform analysis on Verification Cross-Reference Matrix (VCRM) for clarity and testability.  

  • Ensure new applications and software modifications meet requirements and operate satisfactorily in the system environment.  

  • Ensure that the software interfaces with both new and existing systems seamlessly and efficiently. 

  • Identify, record, and report system defects and anomalies (experience in DOORS and Rational Rose a plus).

  • Identify any risks and plans for mitigation prior to production deployment.  

  • Collaborate with development teams, project managers, and customers both orally and in writing during all test phases.  

  • Participate in engineering status review meetings to determine test strategies, gain product knowledge, and to coordinate development activities.

  • Document processes and work within a quality improvement environment

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of web architectures including: web and web application servers, encryption, n-tier development/development strategies, databases, security mechanisms, directories, etc.

  • Have an understanding of server, application and network security hardening and validation techniques

  • Has hands-on knowledge of Internet and networking infrastructure design and implementation techniques

  • Hands-on knowledge of networking infrastructure products such as servers, switches, firewalls and routers

  • Familiarity with web products and servers such as web servers, URL, Browsers, Internet performance tools, web search engines, directory services, switching technologies, and Internet security services. 

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills

  • Ability to influence/drive for decisions, work across technical teams to address application or infrastructure related issues or problems and improve productivity.

Required:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret cleaance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in disciplines related to information technology

  • A minimum of 7 years related experience

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum or SecDevOps methodologies with emphasis on systems engineering

  • Experience with Highly-Available technologies, networks, and enterprise systems

  • Experience with a scripting language; JavaScript, Perl and Bash are examples

  • Software coding experience in the C++ or Java languages

  • Familiarity with LINUX/UNIX operating systems and able to execute basic OS commands 

Desired:

  • Certificate in IT-related topics. Recognized certificates include those from CompTIA, ISC2, Microsoft, major cloud vendors, Cisco, Oracle, etc.recognized

  • 10 + years of experience in the areas of IT systems engineering

  • Familiarity with configuration control tools (e.g. Clear Case, Phabricator) and requirements traceability tools (e.g. DOORS), CI/CD pipeline development and operations

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. $113,200 - $237,800
