Carousell

Carousell is a multi-category classifieds and recommerce marketplace operating across seven Southeast Asian markets, connecting tens of millions of users to buy and sell secondhand goods.

Founded in 2012 during a Startup Weekend by three friends, Carousell has grown into a unicorn-classifieds and recommerce platform operating across seven markets in Greater Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Its flagship marketplace, Carousell, serves tens of millions of monthly active users, making selling as effortless as taking a photo and buying as straightforward as sending a message.

The company's portfolio extends well beyond a single brand. It encompasses regional platforms such as Cho Tot in Vietnam, Mudah.my in Malaysia, and OneShift in the Philippines, alongside specialised verticals including REFASH for fashion, Laku6 for electronics, and Revo Financial for automotive transactions. This breadth positions the group at the intersection of classifieds, recommerce, and consumer services across diverse categories.

Carousell's stated mission is to make secondhand the first choice for everyone - a goal that places the firm squarely in the global push toward circular economies. For engineers and product professionals, the platform presents the challenge of building and scaling systems that support tens of millions of users across multiple countries, currencies, and regulatory environments.
