Ellison Institute of Technology
Oxford, England, GB
A scientific institute founded by Larry Ellison, working across AI, robotics, genomics, health, climate and agriculture to turn fundamental research into deployed technologies, products and platforms from Oxford.
The Ellison Institute of Technology is a scientific institute that brings together researchers, engineers and innovators to address persistent problems in health and medical science, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change, and artificial intelligence and robotics. Founded by Larry Ellison, it works across traditional disciplinary boundaries, spanning machine learning, genomics, climate science, robotics and engineering. Its stated approach is to combine fundamental research with practical outcomes: building technologies, launching products and creating platforms rather than confining itself to publication.
Technical work at the institute is supported by close collaboration with Oracle and other partners, providing cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities at scale. This sits alongside a planned Oxford campus of laboratories and collaborative spaces designed by Foster + Partners, intended to move discoveries from the laboratory to real-world application and set for completion in 2027. The institute's personnel include pioneering scientists such as Sir John Bell, together with experts in machine learning, genomics and engineering.
The institute also runs the Ellison Scholars program, which fully funds exceptional students at Oxford University to develop the next generation of scientific leaders. Its presence is centred in Oxford, United Kingdom.
